About Carl Broadbent – Founder of Two Putt Par

Now then, I’m Carl Broadbent, a devoted husband, dad, and an avid golfer at heart.

When I’m not immersed in the responsibilities of family and work, you’ll find me on the golf course, usually hacking my way out of trees.

My passion for golf goes beyond just swinging clubs; it’s about escaping real life for a few hours, fresh air and challenging myself.

I’ve been playing golf for about 6 years now but only really taking my game seriously for about 2 years.

The name for this website came from my playing partners who said I always used to say..

I’d be happy with a two putt par

I started to have lessons from Andrew Smith about 12 months ago and I have never looked back since.

My HCP was 34 when i had my first lesson with Andrew and is now 17.4 and trending downwards in the right way.

All thanks to my coach and to be fair to myself lots of hard work.

Andrew also works for the PGA and runs the PGA Yorkshire events. You can follow Andrew over on Twitter here.

I remember how nervous I was having my first on-course golf lesson. You can watch it below! ( Don’t laugh ) I was okay, until I blew up on the 7th.

We have all been there, right?

Carl Broadbent has a WHS Index of 17.4, His home club is York Academy and his Membership Number is: 1017246771

But, I can say that lesson really change how I feel about golf and learning.

What’s my website all about?

It’s simple…. I just want to play golf, learn and share real finding with likeminded and similar level golfers.

I’m sick of scratch players on YouTube saying courses are easy and then I book a round and find out it has two par 3’s over 230 yards of the yellows.

I want to give you the information that you really want to hear before you book your round.

  • Is the first tee shot in front of the clubhouse
  • Is there a starter waiting to judge you on the first tee box
  • Is the course worth the money
  • How wet does it get in winter
  • How hard are the bunkers

These are the sort of questions I would ask before i went to play a course. That information is very hard to find as most courses won’t share that sort of information in case it scares you off booking.

Equipment Testing

I also like gadgets and I love seeing if golf training aids really do work. Again real reviews from an average golfer with information aimed at golfers of a similar level to myself.

My favorite golfing item?

My 12 year old Busnell V2 range finder.

Then a close second is my Remote controlled Electric golf trolley which I love especially in winter. But, it’s not without its faults.

Finding these faults after paying £1200 for it was a little annoying and I wish people would have shared them with me and the wider audience.

So, here’s the video review of it I did myself.

Travelling Golfer

I also like to travel and have been an active travel blogger for many years and love to share travel tips and hotel reviews over on my main website that I earn my living from called Travelspock

So, I’m in a good place to offer helpful advice about accommodation and hotels close to the courses in case you want to stay over.

Again, real honest reviews that most people won’t tell you.

That’s me in a nutshell

I hope you enjoy the course reviews I share and maybe the information I provide will help you book the right course for you and your friends next golfing trip.

So, remember…. Two putt pars are fine!

All the best
